The 2009 UAV Challenge - Outback Rescue will be held from 28 September - 1 October 2009 at Kingaroy airport in Queensland, Australia. Kingaroy is approximately 220 km north west of Brisbane, Queensland and is the site for a new UAV test and training centre being used by Boeing Defence Australia and ARCAA.

The Kingaroy Shire Council and the Queensland Government are developing the kingaroy airport into a world class, UAV testing and training facility. This is the perfect location to conduct the competition and to develop Australia's next generation of aerospace professionals.

With a population of around 8,000 in the township. Kingaroy is the largest town in the South Burnett region and is the commercial centre with all major facilities and accommodation ranging from hotels, motels, caravan parks, bed and breakfasts and cabins.
