The rules for the 2009 Challenge are now available.
Several changes have been made to all categories to improve the competition. The biggest change has been made to the high school Airborne Delivery Challenge. This year, teams can compete in the standard Airborne Delivery Challenge or choose to compete in the more advanced Robot Airborne Delivery Challenge. This involves autonomously piloting a UAV through the challenge for even greater prize money.
Another major change sees the two Documentary Challenges combine into one Challenge with a $5,000 prize. Both high school and open teams can enter this Challenge.
The prize structure for the 2009 Challenge is as follows:
- Search and Rescue Challenge $50,000
- Robot Airborne Delivery Challenge $10,000
- Airborne Delivery Challenge $5,000
- Documentary Challenge $5,000
